Christmas Eve Boxes!

I was never actually going to do Christmas Eve Boxes if I'm being honest. For several reasons!

There's stockings, crackers, main presents, grandparents giving gifts left right and Chelsea! You know how it goes at Christmas time, there's presents in presents!

I love watching their faces light up with the best of them...But when you have children it suddenly becomes a bit mad...over the top with plastic light up whosiwhatsits....yes, I sound like an old misery guts ...

I was also traditional, and a stickler that presents should only be on one day so they appreciate it.

I don’t want them to be greedy, not being grateful for the gifts they’ll get, becoming glutinous gift trolls... and just thinking they'll get presents all the time for nothing.....

However 2020 had different ideas! It's been an entire year of heartache, sadness, loss, emptiness and loneliness across the world...it's been precisely a shower of shit!

Like hundreds of others, my boys haven’t seen friends, haven’t seen family. Haven’t been to sensory or yoga or swimming classes. Haven’t been to cafés to meet up with other mummy’s (my boys particularly like that heehehee...) So what's an extra gift on Christmas Eve going to hurt?

Is it going to ruin their moral compass for life? No!!!

Do they even know what's going on? No!!!

Do they understand what Christmas is?? No!!!

Will they just eat the wrapping paper and play with the boxes?...Yes!

But, do I want to give them an extra reason to smile this year?...Yes! Because without Corona, we would have had faaaaaaaar more smiles this year I promise you!

So before Lockdown 2 was announced, I popped to all the local cheap crafty shops, and found 2 suitable plain boxes from the Works, bought all the glitter, all the sparkles and anything that I could find that was Christmassy and could be glued down!

Rags and I had a project...Christmas Eve Boxes A go!

I've had lots of ideas of what to put into our Christmas Eve Boxes, but the core decoration was clear, green , red, sparkle, glitter and sparkle...

I had some lovely suggestions to make them really festive and magical, and yes this year, I'm more excited than the boys...

But as Mums we just want to make it as special as possible don't we!?

My favourite idea's, and things I will definitely be putting inside them are:

Christmas Pj's...(I have matching ones for me too already!)

A new book, preferably Christmassy

Reindeer Food...Food glitter sprayed on oats (I mean how cute...I forgot you even do stuff like this at Christmas I've just drank gin for 15 years as my festive treat !)

Christmas craft, such as decorate a ginger bread man

A special bauble to be added to the tree

Festive socks, or a soft toy

And chocolate coins.....I mean what's not to love I'm excited just thinking about it!

ree

I was so chuffed with the finished product, it was a great activity to do with Rags!

Will he most likely pull all of the decorations of and we'll have to re-stick it all next year...yes...but is it even Christmas if they aren't pooping glitter?
